What Is Tim Kingsbury’s Net Worth?

Tim Kingsbury is a Canadian musician who has a net worth of $5 million. Tim Kingsbury is best known as the bassist and multi-instrumentalist for Arcade Fire. He joined the Montreal-based group during the period immediately preceding its breakthrough debut album, “Funeral,” and has remained one of its core members for more than two decades.

Although bass is his primary instrument with Arcade Fire, Kingsbury also plays guitar, keyboards, piano, and double bass and contributes vocals. He has performed alongside bandleaders Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry, and drummer Jeremy Gara. Will Butler was also a member of the band until 2021.

Outside Arcade Fire, Kingsbury has performed with Wolf Parade and several other Canadian groups and records his own music under the name Sam Patch.

    Early Life

Tim Kingsbury was born in 1977 and grew up in and around Guelph, Ontario. Music was part of his family life from an early age. His mother was a pianist and church music

    Arcade Fire

Before joining Arcade Fire, Kingsbury performed with several groups, including The New International Standards, where he played alongside Richard Reed Parry.

Parry ultimately invited Kingsbury into Arcade Fire in 2003 as the band’s original lineup was being reorganized.

The timing proved fortuitous. Arcade Fire released “Funeral” in 2004, and the album’s critical success rapidly transformed the group from a Montreal indie band into an internationally recognized act.

Kingsbury subsequently appeared on “Neon Bible,” “The Suburbs,” “Reflektor,” “Everything Now,” “We,” and “Pink Elephant.”

“The Suburbs” became Arcade Fire’s commercial high point, reaching #1 on the Billboard 200 and winning Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards.

Kingsbury’s role has been especially important during Arcade Fire’s live shows. The band’s arrangements require its musicians to move between instruments, and Kingsbury has alternated among bass, guitar, keyboards, and vocals throughout its tours.

    Wolf Parade and Other Projects

Kingsbury also participated in another important Montreal indie-rock album of the 2000s. He toured and recorded with Wolf Parade and contributed bass to the band’s acclaimed 2005 debut album, “Apologies to the Queen Mary.”

His other early projects included Clark and The New International Standards.

    Sam Patch

In 2015, Kingsbury began performing solo material under the name Sam Patch. The project gave him the opportunity to write and arrange songs independently after years of working within Arcade Fire’s highly collaborative environment.

The debut Sam Patch album, “Yeah You, And I,” was released in 2017. Jeremy Gara contributed drums, while other collaborators included Basia Bulat and members of Tortoise.

Kingsbury later recorded the song “In to Trouble” for the film “Pieces of a Woman.” The track was subsequently released independently under his own name.

Through Arcade Fire, session work, touring, songwriting royalties, and his solo projects, Kingsbury has maintained a professional music career spanning more than two decades.
